Something like that has never happened to me either! You get hit by the waitress that she lives on tips because she didn't get one from me. The story: The plates were hardly empty and the glasses were half full and the waitress wanted to bring the bill. Should we go already? Then it was visibly difficult for her to come to the table again because of only ONE dessert (sry, but the selection didn't appeal to us) and then the card payment - and run again, fetch the reader and grimace. We were always happy to eat in the Ratskeller, but we were very disappointed with the service that evening. By the way, the food was tasty and delicious.

Price-performance ratio was right, it was a shame to see how guests were already instructed at 8pm with the statement that the kitchen was already closed.

Great ambience. Nice outdoor area with a view of the old market. I find the price / performance ratio not appropriate The dishes are seasoned. Meat is tough and overcooked. Amount of meat is also not appropriate. In the case of steaks, there is not even a weight indication on the menu. Service tries hard but somehow not on the ball. And what bothered me the most is, even if you don't have to, a mouthguard as a service would be appropriate at the moment. Leading by example!

The starter was a small salad and the main course was a steak au four. Bombastically fresh and really flavorful. For dessert, a sweet, warm apple strudel with vanilla ice cream. Very nice service despite the fact that the waitress was alone. Friendly, quick and everything noted. Highly recommended for all gourmets.

We were on the 29.7. very kindly served by an elderly lady who has her heart in the right place. In addition, the food was excellent and the space in front of the restaurant was ideal for watching.

Today at noon in the Ratskeller !!! They still exist ... The delicious Thuringian cuisine .. home-style ... honest and delicious. My wife and I had seasoned meat as a starter and cabbage roulade, and Sauerbraten as the main course. Served briskly and friendly by the service employee. We felt very comfortable in the historical ambience of the house. Oh, by the way, attention was always paid to a hygiene concept appropriate to the time !!! The Ratskeller is the best dining restaurant in Schmalkalden. The menu is great, the food has always been very good for years. The service is very friendly and fast. Everything fits in this restaurant. For years I have nothing to complain about. It is also worth the price for this achievement. So dear hosts ... keep up the good work.
